Want a Glimpse at 24 - The Video Game?
    Posted by Diggler - 31/3/2005 23:47

There's been occasional mutterings that Jack Bauer and the CTU team were set to make the move from TV to video game for a while now. This week the internet not only received the first solid details however, but also some in-depth blurb from none other than Kiefer Sutherland himself.

A web site known as the 24 Web Log managed to track down a flash video hidden away on a password protected gaming site, in which Kiefer (courtesy of teleprompter) chats at length regarding the upcoming title. Rather than repeat the legally ambiguous URL and login details here though, I'll simply pass you over to http://www.24weblog.com/ themselves for the low-down. Details on accessing the hidden video appear in their March 31st entry.

The good news is that from this early footage, the game appears to be turning into a faithful recreation of the TV show. Actors have been visually digitised and are also recording full dialogue for their various parts, in a plot set to tie up various loose ends and uncertainties from the last couple of seasons. Best of all, the real-time aspect that made the show so famous appears to be present and correct, boding well for plenty of crack-sweatingly tense plot devices.

The bad news is that the damn thing is PS2 exclusive (at least for the moment...).

Still, this video is definitely worth a butchers for long-time 24 fans, and in light of recent success stories in the world of licensed games, this could well end up being reasonably bad arse.
