Network Information
At Clanplanet we have designed our network to be highly reliable and redundant at all costs. While some people will say that the services we provide don't require a mission critical solution, we see it as a chance to prove them wrong.
Datacentre Information
Our main presence is currently in Bluesquare Datacentre (Maidenhead). Feel free to browse through a selection of the pictures taken on one of our many visits. For more information about our Datacentre, please feel free to visit our colocation services page.
Network Information
Our network consists of multiple 24 port gigabyte switches which connect via dual GB uplink copper ports to our master Cisco switch. From here dual fibre links connect our Bluesquare POP to Telehouse East and Redbus Sovereign House for the redundant transit links/connections out of the Bluesquare. Finally our 2 Juniper routers (one in Telehouse and one in Redbus) determine the best route to your connection. By having two POPs in the Docklands, we are able to be apart of the some of the best possible peering exchanges around. Our peering/transit connections consist of:
- Level3
- Tiscali
- NewNet
- Linx
- Lipex
- XchangePoint
Hardware/Software Information
All our hardware is owned and maintained by the Clanplanet team, no renting from other suppliers or paying off the hardware on a loan or credit.. We wont lie to you in the fact that problems do arise and do happen from time to time, happens to every company at any possible time. To help reduce the possibilities of these problems we use top spec new equipment which is rated for use in servers (no cheap bog standard equipment or second hand servers from eBay).
In the unlikely event that hardware fails we have spare parts ready for immediate install, if that fails new parts can be ordered for same day delivery in a worse case scenario. Unlike other providers we always have a spare server online and ready to go, when this server starts to be used another is ordered. Always ready to take the load in case of a failure.
While our Dedicated server specifications vary dependant to the package, we do use a set standard of specifications for our general servers:
- Intel Core2Duo E6600 (Dual Core), 2.4Ghz 4mb Cache/E6700, 2.66Ghz 4mb Cache
- Intel Motherboard (G965 Chipset)
- 4GB Dual Channel DDR2 PC6400 RAM (4x1GB Dimms)
- 1 x 250GB 16mb Cache SATA2 (300mbs) Hard drive
- 1 x 80GB 8mb Cache SATA2 Hard drive (added for extra performance)
These are put into either Supermicro 1u chassis or 2u media chassis. All our servers are run using Microsoft Server 2003 Enterprise Edition along with ClanPanel. To make sure that these servers are running at there up most performance 24/7, they are monitored constantly for network statistics and usage statistics.. Any issues with performance and our admins are notified immediately to stop any future problems. All hardware units are connected via Switched APCs and KVM. This allows us to monitor our power usage within each rack while having the functionality to manually restart/reboot any pieces of hardware in the case of a crash (APC) as well as monitor the console session as well as BIOS on any hardware in the event of a OS/Software problem (KVM/Keyboard Video Mouse).
